Salman To Leave Galaxy Apts After 50 Years
New six-storey family home is being built on Chimbai Road
Salman Khan will soon be bidding farewell to Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai, his long-time residence.
The actor and his family are constructing a new ground-plus-stilt-plus-six-
The plan was given the green signal by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) on June 16. The decision to fast-track construction follows serious security concerns for Salman, notably the April 2024 firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments.
Though the 4,000-square-foot, sea-facing plot is just a few hundred metres down the road from Galaxy Apartments, the new home will be in a quiet by-lane, offering much better security and privacy than the current home located on a thoroughfare.
Two dilapidated cottages—Belle Mar and Belle Vue—occupied the property, which was purchased by Salman’s parents, Salim and Salma Khan, back in 2011 for Rs 14.4 crore.
The construction project is being handled by Sach Developers. Plans approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) show that the building will occupy a total of 1,014 square metres, complete with double basements built to accommodate up to 15 cars.
It remains unclear if Salman will permanently vacate his iconic ground-floor 1-BHK at Galaxy Apartments, a place he has repeatedly said he is deeply attached to. Salman had told this writer not long ago, “This (Galaxy Apartments) is where I’ve grown up. Now it is too small for all of us. I don’t have any space for my clothes.”
