Rashmika’s Telangana Slang Sparks Mixed Reactions
Her attempt at the local dialect drew attention when she spoke about Anand Deverakonda at the Epic trailer launch
Rashmika Mandanna is winning attention for her latest attempt to speak in Telangana slang. But while some fans loved her effort, others on social media weren’t quite impressed with her pronunciation.
Amid the debate, Telangana-born producer Raj Kandukuri has come out in Rashmika’s support, urging people to appreciate her efforts instead of judging her. “Telangana language is a bit difficult, but with consistent efforts, it can be mastered. We should appreciate her efforts,” says Raj.
Rashmika’s Telangana caught attention when she spoke about Anand Deverakonda at the trailer launch of Epic, where she attended as the chief guest. The clip soon made its way across social media, sparking plenty of chatter.
Raj believes Rashmika should be given time to become comfortable with the dialect. “Her mother tongue is Kodava Takk, while Telangana language, script and culture are very different. She is slowly adapting to her in-laws’ language and culture. We should genuinely appreciate her efforts and give her some time,” he says.
He also notes that Rashmika managed to pronounce several words correctly and believes people should have the freedom to learn a new language without being judged for their early attempts. “Even Bollywood actresses try to say a few words in Telugu to connect with the Telugu audience, and we should welcome such gestures. Every non-Telanganite will be welcomed into our world, and we should appreciate their efforts,” Raj adds.
