Rani, not Deepika, will play Suhana’s mom
Official announcement from ‘King’ makers awaited
Rani Mukherji is all set to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan in King. Industry circles were abuzz with rumours that Deepika Padukone had been signed on for a special appearance, as the mother of Suhana Khan, who is making her debut in the film. However, that role has gone to Rani, according to informed sources. The sources said Rani’s character would be pivotal to the plot, and serve as the catalyst in the story, which is an action thriller.
“It was a no-brainer for Rani. She heard the script, and immediately gave her approval,” said the sources.
Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee have starred in several hits, such as Kuch Kuch Hota hai, Chalte Chalte and Paheli. Many netizens welcomed the news, drawing parallels with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, in which SRK and Rani played parents to a daughter.
Does that mean Deepika is no longer part of King, which has also been making news because of its ensemble cast, including names like Abishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff?
However, there has been no formal announcement from the makers yet.
