“I want to congratulate Honourable Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay garu, who stepped away from peak stardom and his career to serve the people. As someone in the film industry, I’m very proud, and I congratulate both the people of Tamil Nadu and Vijay Sir,” said Tollywood star Ram Charan.

Speaking at the pre-release promotion for his film Peddi in Chennai, Ram Charan highlighted his personal ties to the city – “Chennai has always held a special place in my heart. It is the city where I was born and raised. Whenever I visit Chennai for my film promotions, I feel as though I have returned home. My mother was also born here, so Chennai evokes in me a deep sense of affection.”

On Peddi, he said, “I poured my heart and soul into Peddi. In my family, we believe that if you continue to talk about a film even after you’ve returned home, that film is bound to be a massive success. I did that for films like RRR, Rangasthalam and Magadheera, which were blockbusters. After a long hiatus, I find myself once again talking incessantly about Peddi to my mother and friends. That, in itself, is the source of my confidence that this movie will turn out to be a monumental success.”

AR Rahman, who scores the music for Peddi praised Ram Charan as a role model for the younger generation. “When Ram Charan visited our home recently, it became clear that he hasn’t just stepped into his father Chiranjeevi’s legendary shadow. He has grown into his own towering presence. I used Ram Charan’s journey to inspire my son Ameen.”

Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, director Buchi Babu Sana and cinematographer Rathnavelu also spoke on the occasion.

Janhvi Kapoor is the female lead in Peddi and Shruti Haasan has a special song. The film, backed by Vriddhi Cinemas in association with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings.
