Priyanka Chopra Pays Homage To Kishore Kumar In ‘Citadel 2’
The iconic singer’s son responds!
Citadel 2, now streaming, has a surprise for Kishore Kumar fans – Priyanka Chopra sings one of the legendary singer’s most beloved songs —Aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalun ek aise gagan ke tale jahan gham bhi na ho aansoon bhi na ho, bass pyar hi pyar paley—from the film Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein.
As Priyanka, a professional singer, breaks into this plaintive number, her screen daughter joins in.
A little probing reveals that Priyanka herself suggested this particular song to director Joe Russo when the plot demanded that her Indian character Nadia make a cultural and emotional connect with her daughter.
Interestingly, Kishore Kumar not only sang Aa chal ke tujhe but composed the tune too. The versatile artiste also wrote and directed the film Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein and played the lead in it.
Says Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar, “Do you know, I played my father’s son in Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein. Aa chal ke tujhe meant a lot to Baba. I must say Priyanka Chopra has excellent taste.”
