Once upon a time, NTR meant only one man: the legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao — mythological hero on screen, political titan off it. Then came his grandson, the current box-office king, known as ‘Jr NTR’. Though the actor prefers to go by the plain ‘NTR’, a significant portion of the population insists on adding a prefix – ‘Jr’ – out of reverence for the OG.

And now, there’s a new player in the Nandamuri lineup — a great-grandson making his film debut, also named NTR. He’s the fourth-generation star, called Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, son of the late Nandamuri Janaki Ram and grandson of Nandamuri Harikrishna.

Social media is amused

Not unreasonably, Netizens want to know how this latest scion is to be referred to, as different from his predecessors.

“How are we supposed to tell them apart?” asked one baffled user. “Should we call him Jr Jr NTR?” Others offered increasingly imaginative fixes: Sub Jr NTR, NTR³, or even the royal-sounding NTR I, II, III…. One netizen even proposed a scalable solution: “NTR, Jr NTR, Mini NTR, Micro NTR…”

The trolling was lighthearted. Whatever the case, the name NTR continues to echo through time — and apparently, across multiple generations of the Nandamuri family.
