Mary Kom’s Ex-Husband Files a Case Against Her!
Olympic legend accused of making “highly disparaging remarks” on TV shows
In a fresh twist to their bitter public feud, Olympic medallist Mary Kom’s estranged husband Karung Onler Kom has initiated criminal defamation proceedings against the boxing legend.
The case has been filed under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for November 19, 2026.
Onler has accused Mary Kom of making “highly disparaging and damaging” remarks against him on national television. Seeking a public apology and financial damages, he said, “I have a strong case... she cannot keep defaming me every time.”
The couple, who got married in 2005 and have four children together, divorced in 2023.
Earlier this year, Mary Kom had gone public with serious allegations against Onler, claiming he was financially exploitative! She alleged that he lived entirely off her boxing earnings, drained crores of rupees, took unauthorised loans in her name and even secretly mortgaged her properties without her consent.
Onler has vehemently denied all allegations of financial fraud. He has claimed that he gave up his own career to manage their household, raise their children and be her support system.
In retaliation, he has levelled counter-allegations against Mary, accusing her of multiple extramarital affairs dating back to 2013 and has claimed to have WhatsApp records as proof.
The legal battle between the former couple is only expected to get uglier from here.
