Kajol is back with The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha Season 2 — Another case. Higher stakes. Fiercer battles. The fight for truth and justice continues. At the trailer launch event, she answered media questions in connection with her character, Noyonika Sengupta.

Q  A bird’s eye view of Season 2

“I think the season is very interesting, it’s a story which talks about the strength a woman has to have in real life — we take decisions for our kids, our families. Different facets of Noyonika will be on display — a good lawyer, a good mother and wife.

Q On whether she would opt for justice over love, or vice versa

It will depend on the situation. In real life, I would choose being a kind woman over justice sometimes.

Q On co-actor Kubra

Kubra handles things very well. I have seen her handling criticism and negativity off-screen with such a positive attitude that it turns into something else.

Q On how a strong woman has to take a backseat within her home sometimes

Though in a theatrical sense it sounds very good [for a woman to be strong everywhere]. In real life it’s difficult. There are children involved, financial situations, society. She may be perceived as weak for taking time to make the right decisions, keeping not just herself but many factors in mind.

Q On what would be a big red flag for her personally in a relationship

For me, more than big red flags, it is the small things that matter a lot when meeting someone for the first time — small things that make me think I will not be able to take the relationship any further.

Q On her journey from heroine to great character roles

Noyonika’s character was easy to connect with. I think most women understand the conscious decisions that have to be taken when dealing with children, family, relatives. I know some wonderful women who managed to do what Noyonkia is doing. I take inspiration from them.

Q On choosing between being a mom and playing powerful women on screen

I don’t overthink about it. But when you are a woman in our society, there is a certain perception about you. When you are married and have kids, you are seen in a different way, and that influences the kind of script that you have offered. I have always said my kids are the best things to happen in my life. I think this is a huge part of how people see me.
