Is Kartik Aaryan’s Next Film Similar to Saiyaara?

There is a strong rumour going around in the film industry that Kartik Aaryan’s next film is thematically similar to the new blockbuster Saiyaara, and that shooting of the Anurag Basu directorial has been held up for re-scripting. But there are those who refute this too.

According to some reports, the earlier delay in the release of the as-yet untitled Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela love story had facilitated the release of Saiyaara, which is on the same lines. But a source very close to Anurag Basu’s film says there is no comparison between the two movies. “They are two different beasts. Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is as different from Anurag Basu film as Bimal Roy’s Devdas is from Sanjay Bhansali’s Devdas. The only similarity between the two is the dark, joyless protagonist whom love heals. Countless films have been made on this theme, including a new Malayalam film called DNA. Anurag Basu had “got busy completing Metro..In Dino and the Kartik-Sreeleela starrer was put on the back burner,” according to the source. “But it doesn’t matter. The Devdas avatar that Kartik Aaryan plays in Anurag Basu’s film is unlike any suffering lover we have seen,” the source asserts.
