Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’, Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’ Have No Pakistan Link
Bollywood takes a re-look at upcoming films after Operation Sindoor
The ripple effects of the current sensitive situation between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the 22nd April Pahalgam attack and the consequent Operation Sindoor against terrorism launched by the Government of India are being felt not only on the geo-political and economic fronts, but also in the world of entertainment. Bollywood is reviewing a bunch of movies for potentially controversial scenes, and has come up with some findings.
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 and Alia Bhatt’s Alpha have no Pakistan connection.
According to sources, Yash Raj Films clarified that both films, which are part of their spy universe, have been reviewed and their stories contain no reference to Pakistan. “The films are near completion and in neither is there any mention or reference to the country,” a source close to the production affirmed.
However, Sarzameen, a political thriller starring Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is being reviewed, and key sequences are being reworked.
“The film didn’t explicitly refer to Pakistan, but being set in Kashmir, some scenes are being seen as politically sensitive in the current climate. They were to release the film on May 30, but now, they are redubbing some parts,” said a source.
Sunny Deol and Priety Zinta’s Lahore 1947 is undergoing an internal review. An insider said “The film is in sharp contrast with the current sentiment of the nation and is being re-looked at. The team needs to decide how to make it work without compromising the story or being insensitive in the present climate.”
“The writers will have to rework the storylines, key characters will have to be dropped. As of now there is no confirmation about the future of these films,” said an industry source.
