‘Hanuman Ansh’ From `10 lakh to `9 crore
A small-budget Hindi mythological is smashing records
The low-budget devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has achieved a rare theatrical milestone, placing its holding power well ahead of notable sleeper hits like Kantara and The Kashmir Files.
Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and based on the life of godman Neem Karoli Baba, the film staged a historic turnaround after a quiet opening and has crossed the `9.05 crore mark in India.
In trade analysis, the weekend-to-lifetime multiple (often referred to as Aamir Khan’s formula for longevity) measures a film’s overall legs. A higher multiple proves that the movie relied on sustained audience word-of-mouth rather than a front-loaded opening weekend rush.
It opened to nearly zero buzz on August 7, 2026, pulling in a meagre `10 lakh on Day 1 and a total opening weekend taking of just `64 lakh. By Week 2, its screen count had dropped to a critical low of just 40 screens nationwide.
However, word-of-mouth triggered comeback. Exhibitors aggressively scaled up shows, jumping from 40 screens in Week 2 to nearly 400 screens in Week 3. Its third weekend pulled in a whopping `3.68 crore, representing an astronomical 1,168.97% growth over its second weekend collection (`29 lakh).
