Defence journalists and authors Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh have officially ended their association with the upcoming war drama, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, starring Salman Khan.

The two shared a joint statement via X on November 5, saying that their exit stems from the creative evolution of the movie.

The film was initially conceived as a direct cinematic adaptation of a chapter from Aroor and Singh’s acclaimed 2022 book, India’s Most Fearless 3, which meticulously documented the June 2020 border clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley.

“As the film has evolved, it has moved beyond the account of the Galwan incident in our India’s Most Fearless series that first brought us on board,” the authors said in their statement.

Parting on amicable terms, Aroor and Singh extended their gratitude to Salman Khan and team.

The exit follows months of significant script changes and delays in the highly anticipated project.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan made an appearance at the Mumbai trailer launch of Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace amid tight security, as the Lawrence Bishnoi gang continues to terrorise the actor with threats.

“This entire narrative — suggesting that our film is anti-China or that our government pressurised us into changing the script or into rewriting it — all this is nonsense. It's not tue at all. We have made a film about these soldiers, what they go through and what their families go through, on both sides. So, there is no negativity in it. It is just that the circumstances are negative”
