‘Fake’ Rajini Contest in Malaysia?
Organisers hit back, threaten legal action
What began as social media confusion — with a PR professional close to Rajinikanth’s camp dismissing a Kuala Lumpur event as unauthorised — has taken a dramatic turn. Event organisers Malik Streams have now defended their credibility, warning they would sue anyone tarnishing their name.
A viral poster had claimed Kuala Lumpur-based Malik Streams was offering fans a chance to meet Rajinikanth.
Soon after, a PR professional associated with the actor’s recent film Coolie called the campaign “unauthorised” and advised fans to stay away.
PR warning goes viral
In a public note on X, the PR insider branded the contest “fake” and alleged it had been launched without Rajinikanth’s consent. He urged fans not to fall prey to the promotion and to spread the word to prevent further misguidance.
Organisers push back
Malik Streams denied the allegations. The company warned that attempts to discredit its marketing practices were defamatory and said legal proceedings would be initiated against those spreading misinformation.
A couple of days ago, the distribution firm Malik Streams had put out an announcement poster on its Instagram handle that read:
“COOLIE WATCH & WIN CONTEST. The chance of a lifetime: Meet & Greet with Superstar Rajinikanth awaits! All you have to do is: Purchase Coolie movie tickets, Post them on your Instagram feed (public account), Use #COOLIEWW2025.”
The announcement added: “Only the Top 3 highest purchasers will win this golden opportunity.”
