Punjabi music takes centre stage at Wembley as the global superstar plays to a packed 92,000-strong crowd
India’s concert king Diljit Dosanjh turned London’s iconic Wembley Stadium into a celebration of Punjabi music and culture on September 12, marking a major milestone in his remarkable global journey.
The sold-out concert drew an estimated 92,000 fans, underlining the extraordinary international reach of an artist who has taken Punjabi music far beyond its traditional audience.
Diljit opened the show in traditional Punjabi attire, giving his trademark catchphrase a Wembley-sized twist: “Punjabi Aa Gaye Wembley Oye!”What followed was a high-energy two-hour set packed with some of his biggest hits, including “G.O.A.T.”, “Lover”, “Hass Hass” and “Born to Shine”.
He also paid tribute to the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with a rendition of “Saanson Ki Mala”, bringing together two powerful strands of South Asian musical heritage.
Diljit saved a spectacular finish for the finale, closing the historic show with “Main Hoon Punjab” as fireworks lit up the stadium. But Wembley was not the only big announcement of the night.
