Sanjay Dutt.

Sanjay Dutt has joined the growing chorus of prominent Indians voicing concern over the country’s changing atmosphere.

Speaking on a Gandhi Jayanti special episode of Shekhar Suman’s talk show Shekhar Tonite, the actor said that he “can’t feel that peace in our country anymore,” expressing his hope that more harmonious times would return.

The actor did not spell out what prompted the sentiment, but he was quick to praise the people of India.

“The people of this country are so lovely. There should be peace here... We Indians are large-hearted people and we are hospitable. We have given so much, and we should always remain that way. I pray to Shivji that those days come back soon,” he said.

His comments come amid a broader conversation around some affluent Indians choosing to live or educate their children abroad. Sanjay Dutt’s children study in Dubai. Aamir Khan, too, had famously expressed concerns several years ago about the safety of his children amid what he described at the time as growing political tensions in India.
