Aamir To Sing On Screen Again!
He’ll be belting out two numbers in a sweet, old-fashioned comedy
If there is one tireless explorer in Indian cinema, it is Aamir Khan. Way back in 1998, he was the first superstar to do a song in his own voice in a film — it was Vikram Bhatt’s Ghulam. Now, 27 years later, he is again singing on screen, this time more professionally, having undergone voice training.
Aamir says, “When I sang Aati kya khandala I did it for a lark. I was lucky it worked. I’ve been training to be a singer for some years now. My guru is Sucheta Bhattacharjee.”
The actor’s next project is a comedy. Talking of the untitled film, he says, “It is a Basu Chatterjee or Hrishikesh Mukherjee kind of film, which I feel that we have forgotten how to make. We don’t make that kind of cinema anymore.”
But that is not what makes the project so special.
“You’ll be surprised to hear that I’m singing two songs in that, in my own voice,” he shares with us.
