India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli on Wednesday moved up to second place in the latest ICC ODI rankings, sitting just behind teammate Rohit Sharma.
Kohli’s recent stellar performance in the India–South Africa ODI series helped him climb two spots. Across the three-match series, he amassed 302 runs and was named Player of the Series. He is now just eight rating points behind Rohit.
Former India captain Rohit Sharma, who scored 146 runs in the series, has managed to retain his position at the top of the ODI rankings.
The next time Rohit and Kohli will feature in this format will be in the home series against New Zealand, with India set to play three ODIs starting January 11.
India’s KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav have also made significant gains in the ODI rankings. Rahul has risen two places to 12th, while Kuldeep has moved up to third among bowlers.
