Player Registration Opens Ahead Of SA20 Season 5 Auction On October 7

Johannesburg: Player registration for the SA20 Season 5 Auction is open, giving players in South Africa and around the world the opportunity to register their interest ahead of the October 7 event. Registrations will be open from 1:30 PM IST on Monday, August 24 for three weeks, until 8:30 PM IST on Monday, September 14, 2026.

With all six franchises having finalised their retentions and pre-signings ahead of the auction, 19 slots remain to be filled on October 7 across four teams, with Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals having already completed their 19-player rosters for the milestone fifth season of SA20.

Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town head into the Auction with the most to do, with each needing to fill six slots, including one Under-23 player apiece. Pretoria Capitals have five slots open, while Sunrisers Eastern Cape have two remaining. Joburg Super Kings lead the way in terms of spending power, with $1.29 million remaining in their salary cap, followed by MI Cape Town with $580,000. Sunrisers Eastern Cape have $223,000 left to spend, while Pretoria Capitals have $91,500.

The retained and pre-signed squads boast exciting star power, with the likes of Mitchell Marsh, Joe Root, Sam Curran, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Holder and Phil Salt confirmed for Season 5, alongside Proteas firepower including Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Lungi Ngidi and David Miller.

Players interested in being considered for the Season 5 Auction can register their interest at www.sa20.co.za. Replacement players will also be picked from the auction registration list during the competition.

Season 5 of Betway SA20 gets underway on Sunday, January 17, at St George's Park, culminating with the Final at Newlands on Sunday, February 21.
