The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is no less than a daily soap for it has all the masala to make it an addictive spectacle. Moreover, it has a loyal fan base across many countries in the world.

The excitement was at an all-time high and the vibes were electric during the most awaited spectacle which returned to the city after a long hiatus of six years.

Hyderabad played host to the WWE Superstar Spectacle at the Gachibowli stadium last night. The tickets to the much-hyped event were expectedly sold out and the stadium was packed to its gills, in a manner of speaking.

People waited with bated breath since there were some big names making appearances. They put on display a spectacular wrestling extravaganza, much appreciated by the aficionados of the sport. It was a night to remember for wrestling enthusiasts who had come from every nook and corner of the city, and some from other parts of the country, to enjoy the performances exhibited by the likes of John Cena and Seth Rollins among other WWE superstars. The duo's tag-team battle with Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser, dubbed as the main event, was the most anticipated one and perhaps the organisers wanted to save the best for the last and hence decided to slot it as a perfect climax to this extraordinary spectacle. And expectedly, John Cena's in-ring entry left the audience enthralled and asking for more with the iconic 'My Time is Now' playing in the background. The crowd went ballistic when he threw his T shirt in the air.

The special appearance was by none other than the one and only The Great Khali, (first Indian born heavyweight champion), who received a thunderous round of applause from the audience as he took centre-stage mouthing Hindi lines making the audience erupt in joy.

The show of strength here is nothing like the wrestling which happens in rural parts of India to this day, where emotions run high and the astronomical amounts sometimes change hands. It is more of an entertainment, a stress buster, a true spectacle where people scream their lungs out, fully knowing at a sub-conscious level as to what's happening on the stage amid the glaring lights.

When the athletes-cum-artists enter the ring, they are in perfect sync and know exactly what they are doing. And they just can't afford to go wrong. Yes, they take home a hefty pay packet. But they have a role to play. Their only goal is to decimate the opponent while entertaining the spectators.

Imagine, how hard it is to keep a live audience not only hooked, but also at the edge of their seats. A herculean task for sure! And that's what exactly happened last night to Hyderabadis, who were spellbound by the show. The first round perhaps evoked a lukewarm response, but once the spectators got wind of what was happening, even first-timers played along eventually. Like they say, it's a game after all! And the WWE enthusiasts in the city couldn't have got a better start to the weekend.

The icing on the cake was undoubtedly Jonn Cena's speech which received hoots and whistles, a testimony to the popularity of the 16-time world champion in India. It was a night to remember!
