Archery World Cup: Surekha qualifies for finals

Surekha won a women's team silver and a mixed team bronze in Berlin.

Hyderabad: India’s compound mixed team archers on Monday created history by qualifying for the Archery World Cup Finals to be held in Samsun, Turkey in September.

Vijayawada’s Vennam Jyothi Surekha and Abhishek Verma are the players in focus. The Compound mixed team ranks No.1 at the World Cup now, ahead of France, Denmark, USA and South Korea after an impressive show at the World Cup Stage IV held in Berlin, Germany.

Surekha won a women’s team silver and a mixed team bronze in Berlin. Surekha and Verma have so far won four bronze medals in the World Cup mixed team events at Shanghai, Antalya, Salt Lake and Berlin.

Abhishek Verma in Compound men and Deepika Kumari in Recurve women have also qualified in the individual events for the Word Cup Finals in Turkey.
