Hyderabad: Telangana para volleyballer Ragula Naresh Yadav has been selected in the Indian team for the IWAS World Games to be held at Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand in February next year.

However, the Para Volley Federation of India has asked him to raise Rs 1,40,000 towards food, accommodation and travel for the championship, a sum that is beyond his reach. The 27-year-old is searching for sponsors now, and has until December 10 to raise the funds.

This is because there is no government order when it comes to sponsorship of para athletes, except at the Paralympics.

Naresh captained India’s beach volleyball team at the Pingtan Beach World Series Open held at China earlier this year. The team finished in fifth position.

He has also put up a brilliant performance at the 8th National Championship held at Chennai in August to make his way into the Indian side.
