Telangana boy wins big amid coup chaos

Telangana boy Srikanth along with three others bagged gold medals for a relay race in Turkey.

Hyderabad: Amid the ongoing turmoil in Turkey, Telangana’s Srikanth made India proud as he, along with three others, won gold in the medley relay race on Saturday, in which Srikanth ran 300 meters.

Srikanth, an ST community member from Nalgonda and a student of Telangana Sports School, Hakimpet, is also eyeing gold in the 200 metres and 400 metres sprint, of which he has reached the finals.

Srikanth’s coach in the school, Mr Aditya Varma said that the 16- year-old had earlier won nationals level competitions in athletics in the juniors’ category apart from winning competitions in South Zone level and school-level competitions at the national level. Srikanth's brother, Mahesh said, “Srikanth has been winning medals since childhood. He loves athletics."
