AIMP Basketball Championship: Tuticorin port team excels
In the final league match, Tuticorin Port beat Chennai Port by 32-26 points.
Visakhapatnam: Defending Champions VOC Port (Tuticorin) retained the All India Major Ports (AIMP) Basketball Championship with six points in the round robin league in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Host Visakhapatnam Port Trust with 4 points and Chennai Port with 2 points stood in 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
In the final league match, Tuticorin Port beat Chennai Port by 32-26 points.
In the Bodybuilding Championship of the AIMP at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Chennai Port clinched the Championship with 14 points (2 Gold, 1 Silver medal). Mumbai Port with 7 points (2 Silver), Visakhapatnam Port Trust with 6 points (1 Silver, 1 Bronze) secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively. R. Mani Kumar of Chennai Port has won the Mr Major Port title, Best Lifter Title won by E. Prem Kumar of Chennai Port. Stylish lifter title awarded to G. Eswara Rao of Visakhapatnam Port Trust.
M. Padmavalli, president of the Sri Sarada Mahila Samajam attended as chief guest for the valedictory function and presented the trophies for the winners.
