Assam Hockey run amok

Bengaluru: Assam Hockey came with the most noteworthy result of the day, thumping Hockey Gujarat 21-1 in the seventh Hockey Indian sub junior men’s national championship held at the KSHA stadium on Tuesday.

Chris G Alphred and Manish Sahani scored seven and five goals respectively for Assam.

Another north-eastern state, Mizoram despatched Hockey Uttarakhand 8-3 courtesy of a four wonderfully crafted goals from Hmangaisanga.

Hockey Bengaluru meanwhile went down 3-2 to Hockey Him in their Group D encounter.

Hockey Madhya Pradhesh took Hockey Jammu and Kashmir to the cleaners, with a mammoth 9-1 win. Shwetank James made all the difference with his hat-trick while Aditya Chhatri and Gaurav Tripathi both chipped in with braces.
The semi-finals, set to be held on May 4, will feature Mumbai School Sports Association take on Hockey Rajasthan while Namdhari XI will face Bengal Hockey Association.
