Hyderabad's Advika Muthar Wins Gold at National Ice Skating Championship

Advika Muthar from Hyderabad won the gold medal in the Under-12 girls' Figure Skating category at the 21st National Ice Skating Championship held recently in Dehradun.

Hyderabad: Eleven-year-old Advika Muthar from Hyderabad won the gold medal in the Under-12 girls' Figure Skating category at the 21st National Ice Skating Championship held recently in Dehradun.

Competing in her maiden national ice skating event, Advika finished on top of the podium, earning qualification to represent India at the upcoming Asian Open Ice Skating Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Already an accomplished artistic roller skater, Advika had earlier won two silver medals and one bronze medal at the Taiwan Open Artistic Roller Skating Championship this year.

She also boasts an impressive record in national artistic roller skating competitions, having won 12 gold, six silver and one bronze medal.

Advika is the daughter of retired Indian Army engineer Subedar Prakasan Muthar and Santhika. The family, originally from Kerala's Kannur district, is now settled in Hyderabad.

A Class 7 student at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Picket, Secunderabad, Advika trains under former world champion and Arjuna Award recipient Anoop Kumar Yama. Under his guidance, she successfully transitioned from artistic roller skating to ice skating and has quickly emerged as one of the country's promising young talents.

With her national title secured, Advika will now represent India at the Asian Open Ice Skating Championship in Jakarta, aiming to add another international achievement to her growing list of accolades.
