Johannesburg: Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is likely to miss the start of the Premier League season after fracturing his ankle.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury in his right ankle while on international duty with the Belgium squad, Sport24 reported.

Confirming the news, the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) wrote on their official Twitter account that Hazard had twisted his ankle while training and that subsequent scans revealed a fracture.

Hazard had been away with the national side as they prepare for a clash against the Czech Republic and a World Cup Qualifier match against Estonia on June 9.

Hazard, who scored 16 goals in 36 games he played in last season's Premier League, will now miss those games.
