New Delhi: Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has issued a statement on X addressing questions about his views on Pakistan and India, clarifying that his comments are not driven by any desire to obtain Indian citizenship.

Kaneria said he has immense love for the people of Pakistan but also faced “deep discrimination” from the authorities and the Pakistan Cricket Board, including “attempts of forced conversion.”

He described India as his Matrubhumi (motherland) and Pakistan as his Janmabhoomi (birthplace), adding that Bharat is like a temple to him. “At present, I have no plans to seek Bharatiya citizenship,” he stated, while acknowledging that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) provides a path for people like him in the future.

Kaneria said his stand is rooted in dharma and his efforts to “expose anti-nationals and pseudo-secularists” who, according to him, are trying to divide society. Reassuring his followers, he added that he is “safe and happy” with his family, concluding his message with “Jai Shri Ram.”
