Cristiano Ronaldo may be bidding farewell to the Portugal national team after his sister said that the FIFA World Cup 2026 could be his last in Portugal colours.
Speaking to Sport TV, Katia Aveiro suggested that the ongoing FIFA World Cup is likely to be Ronaldo’s “last dance” for Portugal.
“From the information I have, from a reliable source, I believe this is the last dance, so let’s enjoy it,” she said.
On Friday, Ronaldo set two FIFA World Cup knockout-stage records during Portugal’s Round of 32 clash against Croatia.
At 41 years and 147 days old, Ronaldo became the oldest player to feature in and score in a FIFA World Cup knockout-stage match. He converted a penalty in the 68th minute to equalise for Portugal against Croatia.
The goal also marked Ronaldo’s first-ever goal in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup.
Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, secured their place in the Round of 16 with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Croatia. They will face the Spain in the Round of 16 on July 7 for a place in the quarterfinals.
