Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Included in India's Asian Games 2026 Squad

Shreyas Iyer will lead the side, while Tilak Varma has been appointed vice-captain. The squad also features experienced players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named in India's 15-member squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, announced by the BCCI on Saturday. 

Shreyas Iyer will lead the side, while Tilak Varma has been appointed vice-captain. The squad also features experienced players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Sooryavanshi's selection comes after a series of impressive performances in the recent concluded IPL tournament  that have marked him as one of India's brightest young prospects. He will have an opportunity to showcase his talent on the continental stage alongside some of the country's established stars.
