Southern Strikers Win ASA Women’s Cup on Tuesday

ANANTAPUR: Southern Strikers USA emerged champions of the ASA Women’s Cricket Cup 2025, defeating Team ASA by five wickets in the final held at the RDT Stadium, Anantapur, on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, Team ASA elected to bat and posted 127 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Budagala Neha top-scored with 53 runs, while S. Arshiya contributed 49. For Southern Strikers, Geethika Kodali claimed two wickets.

In reply, Southern Strikers USA chased down the target, scoring 129 for five wickets in 18 overs. Geethika Kodali starred with the bat, scoring 41 runs, while Shasha Vallabhaneni added 28. S. Arshiya impressed with the ball for Team ASA, picking up three wickets.

With this, Southern Strikers sealed the title with a comfortable five-wicket victory.

Deepika, captain of the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team, who attended the final, expressed happiness at witnessing blind cricket in Anantapur. “I never knew Anantapur had blind cricket teams. It is encouraging to see girls playing quality cricket. Both Southern Strikers and Team ASA played a wonderful match,” she said.

ADCA Treasurer J. Murali Krishna, Joint Secretary N. Sardar, Councillor H. Ansar Khan, RDT Director B.Y. Nagappa, and others were present on the occasion. The ADCA felicitated Deepika with ₹1 lakh in recognition of her contribution to blind cricket.
