Pakistan Releases New Series Promo, Takes a Dig at Handshake Row with India
The issue first came into focus at the Asia Cup 2025, where India and Pakistan faced each other three times
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the official promotional video ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Australia, taking a dig at India about the handshake controversy. Following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attacks in Kashmir, Indian cricket team members had refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts in various global competitions.
Towards the end of the promo, a tourist is shown exiting a car without shaking the driver's hand. "Handshake bhool gaye aap,” the Australian tourist is reminded by cab driver, adding that “lagta hai padosiyon ke paas bhi ruke thay" (You forgot the handshake; it looks like you had an encounter with our neighbours), a clear dig at India.
The issue first came into focus at the Asia Cup 2025, where India and Pakistan faced each other three times. On each occasion, India captain Suryakumar Yadav did not exchange handshakes with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha.
