Hyderabad: Hyderabad enjoyed a strong opening day against Uttar Pradesh, bowling out the visitors for 168 in 53.4 overs before reaching 82/2 in 32 overs on the opening day of their Col C. K. Nayudu Trophy Under-23 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Tuesday.

The standout performer was Nishant S, who claimed an impressive five-wicket haul to dismantle the Uttar Pradesh batting line-up and put Hyderabad in a commanding position. Nishant returned figures of 5/30 from 14 overs, including five maidens, while Pranav Varma provided excellent support with 3/36. Sameer Rizvi top-scored for Uttar Pradesh with 40, but the lack of substantial contributions from the remaining batters prevented the visitors from posting a competitive total.

Hyderabad’s reply was steady rather than explosive, with P. Raghava unbeaten on 30 at the close of play. Having lost two wickets, Hyderabad will look to build on their solid start and secure a first-innings lead on the second day.

Brief Scores: Uttar Pradesh 168 in 53.4 overs (Sameer Rizvi 40, Nishant S. 5/30 — 14-5-30-5, Pranav Varma 3/36) vs Hyderabad 82/2 in 32 overs (P. Raghava 30 batting)
