Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine credited the team’s hard work and preparation following their commanding 29-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday.
Finn Allen, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green starred with the bat, while Narine impressed with the ball as KKR secured an emphatic win.
“I think it comes with hard work. The guys have been preparing very well and putting in the hard yards, so it’s showing,” Narine said after the match. “Hopefully we can continue winning cricket games no matter what the tournament has in store for us.”
Narine also reached a major milestone, becoming the first overseas cricketer and the 13th player overall to complete 200 IPL appearances.
Reflecting on the achievement, Narine called it a blessing and expressed hope of continuing for many more seasons.
“It’s something that has gone a long way, and the journey continues. Hopefully I can continue bringing these sorts of performances and playing as long as possible,” he added.
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane praised the team’s all-round performance, especially the aggressive batting by Finn Allen, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green.
Allen smashed 93 off just 35 balls, while Raghuvanshi scored 82 off 44 deliveries. Green added an unbeaten 52 off 28 balls to guide KKR to a huge total of 247.
“Very good game. Really happy with two points,” Rahane said. “The way we started with the bat after losing the toss was amazing. Finn Allen, Angkrish and Cameron Green showed great intent and put quality bowlers under pressure.”
Rahane also praised the bowling unit, including Saurabh Dubey and Kartik Tyagi, for their strong efforts in defending the total.
“It’s all about trusting their ability,” he added.
