IPL Playoff Scenarios: 4 Teams Battling for Final Spot

The most celebrated Indian Premiere League has taken an intense turn during the last leg of the tournament, with only four games remaining to be played. As three teams have already qualified for the playoffs, four still fight for the final spot.

Chennai Super Kings’ loss against Gujarat Titans in Thursday’s game has made it easier for teams like PBKS, RR, KKR and DC. While CSK has now been eliminated from the race for playoffs, the other four teams still have a chance.

Qualification Probability

Rajasthan Royals: RR currently has the highest chances of reaching the playoffs with 16 points. They currently sit at the 4th spot with 13 points and 1 remaining game to be played. If they lose their last game against MI they may lose their chances to their rivals.

Punjab Kings: They still have high chances of acquiring the last spot with 15 points, if they win their last game against LSG. They might still need to pray for their rival teams like KKR and RR to lose their last games.

Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR currently are at 6th spot on the points table with 13 points with one game remaining to be played against DC. They can lose their chances of qualification if they lose their last league match. However, just like PBKS, they might also need to be dependent on other team’s wins and losses.

Delhi Capitals: DC currently at the 8th spot with only 12 points, still has a chance to qualify for the playoffs with 14 points. However, this seems quite impossible looking at the other team’s points and probabilities, they still need to win their last match against KKR. They are currently dependent on other team’s losses.

Teams that have already qualified

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Currently at top with 18 points, they are most likely to finish at top two with 20 points this season, they still have one more game to go.

Gujarat Titans: They can only finish at 2nd spot as they have played all their games this season and have qualified with 18 points.

Sun Risers Hyderabad: They have a chance to finish at the 2nd spot with 18 points, only if they surpass GT in NRR.
