HCA Out To Take Guard In Districts

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association is all set to take guard in all districts of Telangana, initially making a push to develop infrastructure in the interiors of the State.
The five-member District Cricket Infrastructure Develop-ment Committee (DCIDC) has been tasked to procure property as the HCA sets out to establish offices in 31 districts, excluding Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy which are within reach of the headquarters at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in the City.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, DCIDC chairman T. Sheshnarayan said his team was up to the task and will explore all possibilities of building infrastructure in the districts in coordination with the HCA management and the Single Member Committee of Justice (Retd) P. Naveen Rao.
To begin with, Shesh and his team — which comprises representatives of Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad, Khammam districts and HCA member Ramakrishna Udupa — will go about identifying places where the district-centric offices of the HCA can be set up. “Now it is for us to take cricket to the nook and corner of Telangana. I want the district players to know that HCA cares as much for you as you crave to play for Hyderabad,” an emotive Shesh said.
“I have seen the Jharkhand, West Bengal and other models during my four decades of association with HCA. We will adopt the best practices from other states as well,” he added.
The panel aims to approach the managements of schools, colleges and institutions asking them to participate and lease out their grounds for games. TG20 franchise owners too could be roped in to invest in the districts their respective teams represent. “We are looking at laying a good foundation in each district. If everything falls in place, each district can have its own league,” Shesh told reporters.
Eventually, each district will have its own association affiliated to the HCA, the procedure for which will be laid out by the Single Member Committee.
