Kashi Vishwanath, CEO of the Chennai franchise, said that the Aussie cricketer had an injury, but that Dhoni and co supported him when needed.

"It's true that Watson wasn't 100 per cent fit. He had niggle, but the team kept him in good shape for the big final," he was quoted saying by Times of India.

CSK beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL final by eight wickets to clinch their first trophy since 2011, and their third overall.
