Kabul: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Wednesday appointed Deputy Minister of Commerce Kamila Seddiqi as their first-ever female Board member, along with Minister of Transport Abdul Hamid Tahmasi.

While Abdul Hamid Tahmasi replaces the President’s Legal Advisor Dr. Abdul Ali Mohammadi, Kamila replaces businessman Syed Salman Sadaat.

“I would like to thank His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the approval of the new appointments. Both Mr. Tahmasi and Ms. Seddiqi have been close followers and supporters of cricket and I am certain that their contributions will be invaluable in the development of the game in the country,” ACB chairman Atif Mashal said in a press release.

Asghar Stanikzai-led Afghanistan played their first-ever Test match when they faced off against India earlier this month in Bengaluru. However, it was a forgettable debut as they went on to lose by an innings and 262 runs within just two days.
