Mumbai: Jasprit Bumrah – India’s new pace sensation – declared the secret to his consistency and success on the eve of the IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders here at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

“Whenever I meet senior bowlers, I keep asking them questions,” said the 22-year-old bowler who has a sling action like Lasith Malinga.

Malinga’s injury ruled him out of the ninth edition of the cash-rich league but the youngster is happy sharing the space with Mitchell McClenaghan.

“Malinga is a world class bowler, one would always miss him. I have also learnt a lot from Mitchell Johnson,” said Bumrah.

The youngster’s learning process started from the limited-over series Down Under leading to the Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20. But what could be the magic behind his perfection at yorkers?

“Tennis-ball cricket helped me get the yorkers right. I played a lot of tennis ball cricket at one point of time when I bowled those yorkers,” he said.

He also praised Krunal Pandya’s addition to the team and said: “More or less, the team is same. It also helped the new guys mix with all of us easily.”
