IPL 2019 auction to take place on December 18 in Jaipur, gets primetime slot

Mumbai: The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 auction is scheduled to be held on December 18 in Jaipur, according to a Mumbai Mirror report.

This time, the auction will be a one-day affair with the event starting at 3p.m. going on till 9.30 p.m.

The change in time has been made considering the prime-time slot so that it will attract maximum viewers.

The eight-team tournament will in all likelihood have an early start with the ICC World Cup in England to be followed.

And also with the General Elections scheduled to be held next year, the cash-rich league could be shifted out of India, with South Africa being a likely possibility.

All of the eight franchises have had a busy month so far with a lot of players being released and retained.

The likes of Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Glenn Maxwell and Jaydev Unadkat have been released whereas players like Virat Kohi and MS Dhoni have been retained by their respective sides.
