Mumbai: Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has played a very crucial part for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the past few years.

Having been a part of CSK in every edition of the IPL(except for 2016 and 2017 when CSK were banned and he played for Gujarat Lions), ‘Mr. IPL’ as he is fondly called, is all set to create some records when the IPL comes to a close on Sunday.

While he already tops the list for playing the most number of IPL matches (175 games), the Uttar Pradesh cricketer is already the top-run scorer in IPL over all seasons.

Raina has 4953 runs in the cash-rich league so far, with Virat Kohli (4948) behind him in second place.

Now that Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) having been already eliminated from this season’s IPL, Raina is all but assured of the numero uno spot in terms of all-time leading run scorers in the eight-team league.

Dhoni’s army will now face the winner of SRH vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Qualifier 2 match, which takes place on Friday in Kolkata.
