When Harbhajan could not understand pregnant Darren Lehmann

Mumbai: There is no shortage of laughter when Harbhajan Singh is in action and that was for all to see when he appeared on cricket comedian Vikram Sathaye’s chat show ‘What The Duck’.

The Indian tweaker, who has 417 Test wickets against his name, enjoyed a great success playing against the Australians. While his 34-wicket haul in India’s historic 2001 series win against Kangaroos gave him a nickname Turbanator, he was also a part of Monkeygate during the 2008 series Down Under.

Harbhajan got candid as he opened up about his love-hate relationship with the Aussies and how he irritated Darren Lehmann.

Harbhajan said, “During a match in Banglaore, I had scalped five Australian wickets. As I walked out to bat, he, while standing at short-leg started muttering quite a few things. When I defended a ball, he burst out laughing while his drawstring was open. Lehmann, who had a big belly, uttered quite a few things - half of which I could not even understand. So, I looked at him from top to bottom and asked ‘Are you pregnant?’ He lost his cool soon and started abusing me. After the end of the over, I asked Warner whether Lehmann was upset.”

One of India’s only cricketer who has Test hat-trick against his name also narrated how he troubled Ricky Ponting.
