New Delhi:  Mujeeb ur Rehman bowled the best over of his young career as Kings XI Punjab defended 17 runs in the final over to beat Delhi Daredevils by four runs at Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Monday.  The victory also ensured Punjab topped the points table with 10 points ( Five wins and one loss).

After being set a target of 144 runs for victory, Delhi got off to a good start thanks to opener Prithvi Shaw, who was given the first game of the tournament. Ankit Rajpoot gave Punjab the early breakthrough by getting rid of Shaw for 22 runs. He had his second of the match removing Glenn Maxwell for 12 runs. Skipper Gautam Gambhir also couldn't get going as he also was dismissed for just 4 runs.

Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer who played well together in the last game couldn't do the damage yet again as Mujeeb clean bowled Pant for just 4 runs.

After Daniel Christian's dismissal, Rahul Tewatia, and Shreyas Iyer then took the attack to the opposition as both of them put on 47 run stands for the sixth wicket to get the home side closer to victory.

With 17 runs needed off the final over KXIP skipper R Ashwin decided to bring in 17-year-old  Mujeeb into the attack and take the team to victory.  With Shreyas Iyer still at the crease, it looked like Delhi will take the game away from Punjab.
Iyer first hit a six and then a boundary to bring the equation closer.

The Mumbai batsman,  however, failed to hit the final delivery over the boundary ropes as the ball went straight into the hands of Aaron Finch as he was dismissed for just 57 runs and with that Punjab recorded their fifth win of the season.
