Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, Ekta Bisht in ICC Women's ODI, T20 squads of year

The International Cricket Council on Thursday made announcement of the teams.

Dubai: India women’s ODI team skipper Mithali Raj on Thursday was named in the ICC Women’s Team of the Year 2017, while Harmanpreet Kaur found a place in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year. Meanwhile, Ekta Bisht emerged as the only Indian cricketer to feature in both the sides.

The 31-year-old Bisht is ranked 14th in ODIs and 12th in T20Is. The left-arm bowler has taken 34 wickets in 19 ODIs and 11 wickets in 7 T20Is matches in the period under consideration – September 21, 2016 till date.

Heather Knight, who powered England to World Cup triumph earlier this year, was named as the skipper of the 50-over side, while Stafanie Taylor of the West Indies appointed captain of the 20-over side as International Cricket Council announced the ODI and T20I teams of the year.

Besides Mithali Raj and Ekta Bisht from India, the ODI side includes Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry from Australia, Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight, Sarah Taylor and Alex Hartley from England, Amy Satterthwaite from New Zealander and  Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp from South Africa.

The T20I side comprises of three Australians – Beth Mooney, Megan Schutt, and Amanda-Jade Wellington - Danni Wyatt from England, Harmanpreet Kaur and Ekta Bisht from India, Sophie Devine and Lea Tahuhu from New Zealand and Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews from West Indies.
