BCCI appoints former Supreme Court judge DK Jain as ombudsman
The bench further informed that the newly-appointed ombudsman will take his charge as soon as possible in the cricketing body.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court appointed its former judge, Justice DK Jain as the first ombudsman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday.
A two-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice S A Bobde, and also comprising Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre said that Jain has been appointed to the position as his name by accepted by “all the parties”.
“Justice (R) DK Jain of this court, be appointed as ombudsman for BCCI, as his name was accepted by all the parties,” the bench said.
The bench further informed that the newly-appointed ombudsman will take his charge as soon as possible in the cricketing body.
Jain will be responsible for looking into the matter related to differences between the state cricket associations and the BCCI. The former judge will also look after the investigation in the controversy surrounding Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had appointed senior advocate PS Narasimha to assist it in BCCI case vis-a-vis cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul's controversial remarks against women on a celebrity chat show.
