Who is Virat Kohli's girl friend, students asked in exam

Mumbai: The Class IX students of Chacha Nehru Hindi High School, Bhiwandi had a field day on October 13, after a question in their physical training education question paper asked them to name cricketer Virat Kohli’s girlfriend? And guess what, all the students got the right answer – Anushka!

Embarrassed with all the media attention, the rattled PT teacher from the Bhiwandi school issued an apology to the school’s principal after posing the following question in a Class IX examination — ‘Who is the girlfriend of cricketer Virat Kohli?’ The options for the question were Priyanka, Anushka or Deepika.

The principal, though, took pride in the fact that almost all the students had given the right answer “Anushka”. His only objection was to the use of the word ‘girlfriend’ in the question.  

Principal of the school, A. Pandey said that the question was inappropriate for Class IX students, especially since it had the word ‘girlfriend’. “If the question had not had the word ‘girlfriend’ in it, there wouldn’t have been such an issue. But it is inappropriate for anyone to ask students of this age such a question. However, almost all the students answered the question correctly,” Mr Pandey said.

Mr Pandey added that a memo was sent to the teacher concerned and he submitted a written reply. “The teacher has apologised for having framed the question,” he said.

Mr Pandey also claimed that certain teachers, who aren’t associated with the school, circulated the image of the question paper in order to make an issue out of it.

He further alleged that ever since the question was leaked, he has received abusive messages regarding the use of the word ‘girlfriend’.  

Some other questions in the PT question paper included: Which is the largest indoor stadium in the country? What city does M.S. Dhoni belong to? Who is Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood friend? The question has gone viral and is being talked about as an interesting method of conducting exams.
