HCA Open Selections Two-Day League: Sunil, Saleh hit tons, emerge top batters

Sunil and Saleh Bin Omer smashed centuries to emerge top batters while four bowlers picked five-wicket hauls each to shine in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Open Selections Two-Day League matches played in the city.

In the match against Team ‘H’, Team ‘I’ scored 341 in 82.3 overs courtesy a steady knock from Sunil who took 160 balls and 12 boundaries to reach 121. Naresh and Vinay played anchor roles by scoring 54 and 64 respectively. Chandrahas did well with the ball for Team ‘H’ by picking 4 for 65.

In reply, C. Phaneendra provided the breakthrough for his side at regular intervals and sent five batters back to pavilion as Team ‘H’ were bundled out for 145 in 56 overs.

In the other match, Saleh Bin of Team ‘D’ tonked a 105-ball 101 while K. S. Bharath picked a five-for to carve out a dominant victory over Team ‘C’.

Batting first, Team ‘D’ scored 316 before their innings was wrapped up in the 84th over. Saleh Bin Omer dispatched 15 fours and a six to reach his century. Madhu Kumar contributed 55. K.S. Bharath who picked 5 for 24 was the lone top performer for Team ‘C’ who were later bowled out for a mere 79 in 37.2 overs.

The match between Team ‘J’ and Team ‘I’ was a tight encounter and bowlers had their share of dominance. 

Using the crease first, Team ‘J’ managed to put 173 on the board as Gangadhar (5/29) and C. Phaneendra (4/79) all together scalped nine wickets.

In reply, Team ‘I’ were bowled out for 149 as Raghava picked five wickets at the cost of 45 runs while Sai Ram chipped in with 3 for 31. Rahul’s unbeaten 66 went in vain.
