Premier League Cricket: Abhinav, Anirudh, Kak, Hasan top shows

Hyderabad: Two batsmen and an equal number of bowlers shared the honours in Monday’s action at the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Premier League cricket here.

B. Anirudh and Abhinav Kumar cracked a century each while Karthikeya Kak and Mehdi Hasan snared five-wicket hauls in different matches. Abhinav made the strongest statement. He was batting on 146 embellished by 14 boundaries and a six as Andhra Bank ended the first day’s play at 323 for 9 against Jai Hanuman, for whom right-arm mediumpacer Karthikeya Kak took 5 for 61. Karthikeya was in top form and baffled the batsmen at will. Four of his five victims were bowled while the other was caught behind.

The youngster had taken 4 for 30 to bowl Jai Hanuman to a four-wicket win in their previous match against Charminar CC.

EMCC’s Anirudh too slammed a century, smashing 11 boundaries and three sixes in his 102 that came off 129 balls to help his side to 384 for 6 against Gemini Friends. His teammate Benjamin Thomas was unlucky though.
He fell six runs short of three figures, in the nervous nineties.

In another match, left-arm spinner Mehdi Hasan scalped 5 for 45 to restrict Dayanand to 215 for 9. Ensconse had replied with 60 for 3 in 21 overs by close of play.

J. Anshul top-scored for R. Dayanand with 61, and received good backing from Sreekanth Reddy, who contributed 38.
