Mumbai: While he scalped his 300th First Class wicket during the ongoing Ranji Trophy final between Gujarat and Mumbai, Rudra Pratap Singh (RP Singh) has hit the news for the wrong reasons.

Just when it was reported that he showed the middle finger to a fan during the third day’s play of the Ranji Trophy final in Indore, a video has emerged showing him throwing a spectator’s mobile during a game.

The video shows RP, who played for India in 14 Tests, 58 ODIs and 10 T20Is and was pivotal in the team’s ICC World Twenty20 triumph under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, crossing the boundary rope, grabbing the phone and on his way back to the field, throwing it on the ground. Earlier, in the video, he was shown signing an autograph for a fan.

It is not clear whether any of the spectators said something provocative to RP.

The left-arm medium pacer, who now plays for Parthiv Patel-led Gujarat side, was crucial in team’s semifinal win over MS Dhoni-mentored Jharkhand side. RP scalped nine wickets in the game to seal Gujarat’s 123-run victory.
