Mumbai: All-rounder Stuart Binny and uncapped pacer Shardul Thakur have been left out of the India squad for the home Test series against New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday.

BCCI selectors met with India Test captain Virat Kohli and head coach Anil Kumble to decide the 15-man roster for the New Zealand Tests, which begin on September 22, in Kanpur.

Binny has recently come under a lot of criticism for failing to perform well during India’s tour of West Indies, which concluded with both sides travelling to the United States for a two-match T20I series.

The 32-year-old all-rounder was smashed for 32 runs in a single over, in the first T20I, which the Caribbean side went on to win by one run. West Indies went on to win the series 1-0, as the second match was called off due to rain.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan has also been named in the squad, despite the fact that the selectors have decided to show their faith in Rohit Sharma. Dhawan has been in poor form of late, as he has managed to notch up just one half-century in his last 11 innings.

Here is India’s 15-man squad for the home series against New Zealand.

Squad:

Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli (captain), Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
