Ranji Trophy: Hyderabad enter quarterfinals

With 31 points to their name, Hyderabad edged past Andhra who finished third with 28 points.

Trishank, who once again played a key role in trapping opponents in his spin web, picked four wickets.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad topped the Group ‘C’ with a draw against Andhra in Lucknow on Friday to advance into the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy.
With 31 points to their name, Hyderabad edged past Andhra who finished third with 28 points.

Earlier on Saturday, resuming at their overnight total of 13/1, Hyderabad were left tottering at 56/5 by the end of day’s play with skipper S. Badrinath and K. Sumanth still unbeaten at the crease on 14 and 10 respectively
P. Vijay Kumar picked 2 wickets for Andhra by conceding just 13 runs.

Andhra bagged three points because of the first innings lead while Hyderabad had to settle for one point which was enough for them to top the tables .

Meanwhile in the Under 16 league match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy at Shimoga, Trishank Gupta displayed a wonderful bowling performance to wrap up Kerala for a modest 211.

Kerala’s batsmen were clueless against Trishank’s spin assault as the leg spinner picked five wickets by conceding 73 runs. Rohan played a supporting role in the team’s cause as the young lad picked 2 for 33.

For Kerala Nikhil Jose was highest run scorer with 53 runs followed by Aryan Kathuria who scored 41 .
